Fuse pencils

A sketch of a character for a superhero graphic novel I really want to do when my arting schedule clears.

I’d like to take my shot at that accessibility thing I keep saying (elsewhere) that cape comics need. Put up or shut up, I guess.

Most efforts to shave the genre down to something less insular and more cross-media consumable have, in my estimation, either dumped the baby out with the bathwater or held onto entirely too much. We don’t need the spandex part — it’s become redundant in 60 years; it only represents superheroes when it used to represent strongmen and something other — but we do need the “super” part. Even if it’s cobbled together via DIY.

I do still like the long underwear, don’t get me wrong, but an aesthetic-mission-statement like this helps me figure things out.
